Hello, my name is Janice Diaz. I always wanted to understand and find better ways to help children grow to become joyous and successful in their lives. That lead me to choose the Deviant Behavior and Social Control major at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, where I resided. In 1995 I received a Bachelor's Degree with a minor in Psychology and Sociology.
Thereafter, I was hired as the Director of Family Services at the Concourse House a Domestic Violence Shelter. When I moved to Florida in 2002, I worked for five years as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the Florida State Department of Juvenile Justice. Changing careers later allowed me to become a teacher for high risk students at Rays of Hope Charter School. Then I obtained a teaching certificate in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) from the Florida Department of Education. Soon I was hired as a teacher at Lake Mary High School, where I taught to children with special needs. For ten years, I was also a foster parent to four high risk and pregnant teenagers. These beautiful girls have grown up to become joyous and successful young adults, whom I remain in close contact with and have the pleasure of seeing them continue to evolve.
Being a child care provider now has allowed me the opportunity to nurture children from a young age by using a combination of the Zen and Montessori methods, which are in alignment with the styles that I have incorporated into my life. Through my vast experience and studies, I have learned that children learn and flourish beyond any limits when their basic needs are met. Children need a safe educational environment full of unconditional love, compassion, understanding, trust and non-judgement. When children's basic needs are met, they will fulfill the purpose of their existence -- pure joy, peace and love. I offer you the opportunity to allow your children to have their basic needs met at Zen 4 Kidz.
